Do Mac and Windows have the same features?
plainDB 2.1.8 implements the same database, import, schema and analysis workflows on Mac and Windows. Native controls, shortcuts, credential storage and AI setup follow each platform.
What is shared?
Both implementations include PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB and SQLite connections; a Supabase preset; SSH connection options; table paging and filtering; structure, indexes and DDL views; staged table-edit review; query tabs; saved queries; history; and Query Pad.
Both also include pinned tabs, adjustable row density, remembered column widths, table counts and storage information where supported, and manual transaction controls. Supported PostgreSQL and SQLite tables can keep up to 50 applied row-change batches for undo until disconnect. See undo requirements and exclusions.
Both also export CSV, TSV, JSON, Markdown and SQL INSERT text. Both table exporters can fetch all rows matching the active filters and sort order. Query-result exports represent fetched results. Always compare the exported row count with the dataset you intended to share.
What follows the platform?
Both platforms include MongoDB, CSV import, table design and transfer, ER diagrams, visual EXPLAIN, result charts, a foreign-key picker and backup controls. Mac uses Keychain, Command shortcuts and Apple's AI model on eligible hardware. Windows uses DPAPI, Ctrl shortcuts, native Windows controls and a separately configured local model server.
What has been validated?
Automated tests and native application launch are checked on a Windows CI runner. Physical-PC checks at different DPI scales and live-server acceptance remain separate validation tasks. The download page reports current distribution availability.
Use the full feature matrix when evaluating a specific task. System requirements are macOS 14.4 or later, Apple silicon for Mac and Windows 10 version 1809 or later, or Windows 11, 64-bit for Windows. Choose a platform because its present workflow meets your needs, rather than assuming future parity.
